Rheumatoid pericarditis has been increasingly emphasized with various diagnostic methods recently. The authors report a case of rheumatoid arthritis complicating pericarditis, pneumococal pneumonia, and iron deficiency anemia and review literatures. A 38-year old patient with rheumatoid arthritis developed pericardial tamponade. Pericardiocentesis promptly relieved the symptoms, and flared-up arthritis responded well to the in the steroid therapy. Rheumatoid factor was positive in pericardial fluid. This is the first case complicating rheumatoid pericarditis in 38 patients with rheumatoid arthritis, which were admitted to St. Mary¢¥s Hospital during the past five years.
